Placenta Encapsulation:  $150

We offer both Raw and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) preparation.


Raw- This method is generally preferred by those who follow raw diet guidelines, which is based around the idea that heat destroys vital enzymes in food. The placenta is rinsed, sliced, dehydrated at low temperatures, ground into a fine powder and placed in capsules. Some find that Raw placenta prep is more potent than TCM. It generally yields more capsules, but has a shorter shelf life than TCM prepared capsules.

TCM- This method of preparation has been used for a long time by TCM practitioners. It is believed that childbirth leaves a lot of open space, which is considered very cold, or yin. The solution is to only consume warming foods and beverages after birth to rebuild vital Qi energy and balance yin and yang. This method creates a remedy that is tonifying, warming, and balancing for the mother. The difference between this and raw is that the placenta is steamed along with lemon, ginger, and a hot pepper before dehydrating. This method yields capsules that are very shelf stable and can be stored for menopause, if desired.

Half and Half- Some women like to experience the benefits of both preparation methods, often using the raw prepared capsules immediately after birth and the TCM prepared after. If this is something you are interested in there will be a slight fee increase due to the extra preparations required. 

Smoothie Preparation:  (cost varies)

For those interested in raw smoothies during their postpartum period, we will prepare some or all of your placenta into cubes that can be used immediately in smoothies or frozen until needed. 

Tinctures and Salves:  $25

Tincture- We use a small piece of placenta to create a tincture. Tinctures can be used for both mother and baby. For the mother it can be used during any challenging time such as low milk production, low energy, stress, illness, PMS, depression, and even menopause. For baby, it is recommended that it be diluted with a little water before use because it is prepared using alcohol. It can be used during times of teething, sickness, and difficult transition periods. Tinctures can be stored for a very long time. It will be presented to you in a glass bottle with a dropper for ease of use with dosage guidelines as well as tips on making the most of your tincture. A little goes a long way! 


Salve- We also have the option to make a salve with part of your placenta, using hot oils and herbs. Salves can be used for many things. They are wonderful for cracked or itchy nipples during breastfeeding, can be used for diaper rash, cesarian scars, perineal tears, sun burn, eczema, and more. 





Chocolate Placenta Truffles:  $30

Yes, you read that right! If you like chocolate you'll love these. This is only offered with encapsulation and in limited quantities for freshness. We can create chocolate truffles using some of the powdered placenta to be enjoyed in the days immediately following the birth. You can enjoy the benefits of the placenta while indulging in your chocolate cravings. Taste is not altered by adding placenta to the truffles. Gluten or dairy free options are available by request. Chocolate options are dark, milk, or white.

Keepsake Items:

Placenta Prints- Prior to encapsulation we offer to create placenta prints on acid free artist paper. These can make wonderful keepsakes. When in print form the placenta resembles an image of the tree of life. If you are not interested in encapsulation but interested in prints we are more than happy to do some more artistic prints using a variety of paints and colors. (simple blood prints included with encapsulation, artistic prints -$25)

 

Cord Keepsake- This option is for those who keep scrapbooks and/or just wish to save the cord. We offer to shape it, usually in a heart, and dehydrate it with the placenta to preserve it. (included with encapsulation)

Non Placenta Related Services:

Belly casts- Prior to delivery, we are willing to offer the creation of belly casts to any mothers who would like this keepsake item. We will prepare a DIY kit with instructions.  $25
